Welcome! Crossing Threads is the collaborative work of Lauren and Kassandra Hernandez, Australian-born sisters of Filipino heritage based in Sydney.

For almost a decade we’ve been following The Design Files. Especially with Lauren originally navigating a career in design, has been one of her go-to blogs to visit in the morning for unique, head-of-the-field, quality Aussie content. Today we are so chuffed to have our story behind Crossing Threads shared on The Design Files, which you can view online, RIGHT NOW! 😆😆 We love to give a BIG thank you to Sally and Elle of TDF for a heartwarming write-up and the talented Jacqui Turk for capturing us in action. Feeling ecstatic.... with lots of happy dances today. Thank you legends!

Guys! We did our first podcast! We had the best time talking with Kate of Creative Women's League. If you ever wanted to know or HEAR more of our how we started Crossing Threads this is a good listen (1 hour long conversation!) We talk about leading a passion-project-turned-business, while working full-time jobs, our individual backgrounds and growing up together as sisters and business partners.  Also some exciting news in the pipeline! Thank you so much Kate for taking the time to chat. Make yourself a cuppa and sit back and listen, we hope you enjoy!

TACTILE QUALITY // "Pushing back against the early 2000s dominance of video and digital art, a new generation of artists is reinventing traditional craftforms. Lisa Griplas meets women making art with their very own hands". - WOOL Magazine Spring 2018

We share what 'handmade' means to us in this digital age and our high-regard to employ wool in our fibre art practice alongside other fibre artists like Natalie Miller, Jacqui Fink and Grace Wood.

We are delighted to share that our two woven wall hangings 'UNDERGROWTH' and 'ENTANGLED' have been featured in the latest issue of 'WOOL' Magazine by The Woolmark Company. Carefully curated by the amazing Steve Cordony, both scenes embrace the nature of wool within the home. We simply adore the modern take on the 'Terra Firma' and 'Raw Minimalist' themes, with both weavings nestled amongst high-end furniture and decor.

"It all started with a birthday gift of a weaving workshop in 2015. Now sisters Lauren and Kass Hernandez of Crossing Threads have become prolific fiber artists. Both on completely different full time career paths, the ‘weaver-fever’ they have both experienced has joined them in a new collaborative and fulfilling path....."

"Looking at their impressive work, it’s hard to believe Sydney sisters Lauren and Kassandra Hernandez, otherwise known as Crossing Threads, only started weaving last year! Inspired by nature, their highly textured wall hangings are created using a variety of upcycled fabrics and yarns including linen, calico, Pima cotton, alpaca wool, cotton roping, sisal roping, bamboo, merino roving and silk...."

"This week Em sat down with Lauren Hernandez, (below right) one half of creative duo Crossing Threads.   Having only caught the Weaver Fever last year, Crossing Threads was and is built upon a mutual love of nature, weaving and fibre art.  With commissioned wall hangings and weavings for home and commercial environments,  their phenomenal business growth is testament to the power of passion, envisioning a dream and working the Instagram market..."
